birth announcements.

if you saw my post yesterday, there aren't many things left on my to do list!

one thing that i spend a lot of time thinking about are the birth announcements.

to do or not to do?

birth announcements were something i've come across often and something i even looked at long before we were pregnant. perhaps it began when searching for wedding invitations because so many websites collaborate with the two occasions, i'm not sure when it exactly started. i'll even admit to looking at them because i have a nosey unhealthy obsession with baby names.
are the names on there real or made up? i dont even know.

once we got pregnant - i returned to looking at birth announcements again. ive looked at minted, tinyprints, shutterfly, vistaprint & even went back to lady fingers letterpress - the ladies who did our custom wedding invites.

as time went on, i wasnt sure i wanted needed to have a special birth announcement of a sort. isnt facebook enough these days? a good 90% of my family is heavily into Facebook and theres no doubt that news will be spreading like wild fire once little man arrives.

truth is - i have a good amount of family in Germany, and a birth announcement would be a wonderful thing for them to have. my oma would hold that so dear to her heart & i'm sure all sets of our grandparents will, regardless of being in the US or not.

after much thought and research - ive decided to go with tiny prints! i have heard such great things about their company and i am familiar with them as well as their sister site, shutterfly & wedding paper diva's. swoon.

here are some of my favorites! part of me feels like i wont be able to officially decide on one design until we have our newborn pictures taken - but i cant help myself from looking. tiny prints has something for everyone! i feel like these have so much personality & flair. i cant wait to place our order!

did you do birth announcements? what would you like to see on your fridge?!
{does it even matter which one we choose?! ... baby goodman's sweet face will be the best part!}

  2. Loved the first one, and the one with "blessed". Both seem very fitting for you.
We did birth announcements. I know a lot of our older family members appreciated it, as they are not as technologically savvy. And, I couldn't NOT have an announcement for the baby book!

  3. Okay..

    1. I read your title as Birth Announcement, no 's' and I thought that baby G made his appearance! haha
    2. I LOVE looking at birth announcements and always scope out the names, they always sound so lovely.
    3. I think birth announcements are the sweetest thing. I always keep mine on the fridge extra long and then I move them to the french memo board in my kitchen and I leave them up all year, along with thank you cards, birthday/wedding invites, and other special pieces of mail or sentiments from the year. Plus, it can be fun to look at the birth announcement and then the Christmas card to see how much the baby changed.
    4. LOVE Tiny Prints and I'll take one of each announcement and one of each of those babies!!

  6. I love all of them! We decided not to do them, but I love them!

I too have an obsession with baby names. HAHA Ryan and I were just talking about baby names last night. :) I have a feeling I am going to be a boy mom no matter how many babies we have. We can never agree on girl names, but man I have a whole list of boy names I would use. :)

  17. I love the idea of birth announcements! I think these things are a lost art these days, because of things like facebook. I'm HOPING I can manage an engagement announcement (when it happens), before putting it on fb. I love the look of #2. Good luck choosing! They're all adorable!

  19. LOVE tiny prints. That's who we went with for Harriet's announcements. They just have such great paper quality and I love that they're usually matte. The first two are my faves.
