whats in a name?!

crue
you were almost named rush or paxton, but daddy & i couldnt pick one of those as our favorite. there was another name or two on our list that we really enjoyed - but of the 3 or 4 names we liked most, none of them seemed to stand out among the rest and scream "this is it". we couldn't pick a favorite of our favorites. had you of been a girl? we knew your name from the start. there were only two options.
when we were 14 weeks pregnant, we spent a weekend in chicago for your daddy's central regional work conference - and just the week before we had seen a peepee show up on our NT scan, confirming all of my deepest intuitions that you were indeed, a boy :) naturally, your mom was going name crazy. one afternoon i brought up "cruz" to your dad - because thats what we love to do. cruise! {ridiculous, i know} but neither of us liked the name cruz so much. meh we said. and shrugged it off. i woke up the next morning and said... "what about crew?!" and isaiah liked it! so on to the list it went. but as the weekend went on, we couldnt stop bringing it up. a few days passed and your daddy didnt like the spelling of "ew" and wanted "ue" - we debated this for about a month until it grew on me and that was it! crue was going to be your name. we decided to keep it a secret from family & friends until you arrived ;)

14 weeks pregnant in chicago

leslie
one year ago today, your grandpa les passed away. when we found out we were pregnant, we knew that if you were going to be a boy - we would incorporate leslie into your name after your grandpas first name, and your daddy's middle name. it took mama a while to find a first name that we liked enough to use with leslie as a middle name because essentially, we knew your middle name first. your middle name is after your daddy and grandpa. your grandpa les played for the packers, and your grandpa gregg is going to tell you many many stories about those two.

warren
two middle names was never in the plan for you C man. but when my grandpa passed away back in april, i knew i wanted to do something for him. your great grandpa {dale warren} was my favorite person in the world. as a man battling cancer for 13 years, i often wondered how i would handle losing him when the time came. i was 24 weeks pregnant with you. just reaching viability. i made it through that tough time in my life because i had you to live for. you were in my belly growing and i was thankful grandpa got to see that. neither dale nor warren are super cool - but you cant beat history and family names. your second middle name came from your great grandpa.

  14. LOVED reading this! I really love Crue's name, and the spelling is great too. I suppose if you can avoid having "ew" in your name, probably do it, right? (-:
