there is SO much going on during this age! and every day is a new experience. i can not believe how fast time is flying and how quickly he is catching on to things. there have been lots of firsts and new foundlings for this little boy. were loving every minute of it!

doctor appointment: didn't have one for 5 months. our 6 month appointment is scheduled for 2/14, even though he will be 6 months on 2/2. better late than never!
weight: 14lbs 6oz as of 12/6 so maybe in the high 16lb low 17lb range?!
height: L O N G. (almost 26 inches as of 12/6, so i'm guessing about 27 now)
head: B I G. (16in as of 12/6, so its surely larger than that now!)

nicknames: C, crue shoe, crue mcgoo, little man, chunkamunk, crumanji, or bear. grandpa calls him buddy & oma calls him squirt.

- we are in the middle of transitioning from the RnP to the crib in our room. and it is HARD work.
- our first night of the transition was also our first night of co-sleeping for about 3 hours. let me tell you that is just not feasible for this mama. C and zay get perfect sleep, but me? not.a.chance.
- {UPDATE!!} last night was night 3 of the transition and this boy slept in his big boy bed 11 straight hours! i hope were on to something here! *knock on wood*
- despite all of that, he is still sleeping for about 12 hours. 11pm-11am. when he wakes up he will have a bottle next to me in bed while i pump and on occasion falls right back asleep, sometimes until 1pm! we can't figure out how to get his bed time to be much earlier than 10pm but we also haven't forced it or tried very hard because the later bedtime works just fine for us. he will fall asleep around 8pm but has never stayed asleep or slept very long. its a usual quick cat nap.
- his day time naps are getting better, but they are SO unpredictable. we usually get 2-3 naps in now. the other day i was skyping my mom with C in my lap, before i knew it he fell over & was no longer in the camera view because he fell asleep! within 5 seconds he went from blabbing away to being out cold on my leg. that same day only about an hour later he was so cranky and so tired, it took about half an hour of rocking him & shushing before he finally fell asleep in my arms. i do love the snuggles though! daytime preferred.

i've been putting pickles and apples in his mesh teether and boyfriend goes to TOWN on them. with the pickles he will suck and suck and suck until he can't get anymore juice and immediately wants a new one. isaiah can not stand pickles so he thinks C is cray.
we introduced some oatmeal to him! he's only had it twice so far but he was a BIG fan! we don't have a schedule for it yet so we've just kind of been winging it here and there until he's 6 months and then we'll figure it out from there. once a day? twice a day? i don't know. but thats why doctors exist.
- after our 6 month appt in a month we plan to use our beaba baby cook pro and start mushing some squash, avocado, veggies & more!
- he will randomly nurse for a hot minute or two but its really just my milk in bottles, although less than "normal". which the wonder week mentioned is a possibility so im not worrying about it too much. {yet}
- he nurses his bottles, drinks them slowly. almost like an adult now. few sips here - go play. few sips there - roll over. oooo a bottle! few more sips. lots of distractions these days for this busy boy :)

- isaiah and i used to say that C's day was 50% sleep, 40% happiness and 10% fuss. now id be able to up that fussing a little bit due to teething. but thankfully - it hasn't been too terrible, nor the worst i've ever seen. i love the extra snuggles but teething is no joke.
- if he's not fussy from teething, the other time you can find him crying is if he's hungry or was being buckled into his infant car seat. thankfully we just upgraded to a convertible last night and though he's only had one short ride in it, he was happy getting in and was sleeping when we got home.
- he LOVES being out and about. he is always a charming A+ baby when were in public!
- i looked up the wonder week 26/mental leap 5 just a few days ago, and he is pretty much acting SPOT ON with the transition were in. they say this is when the 3 C's are present: cranky, clingy, crying. word.

- sophie the giraffe, on a whole new level!
- his jumperoo, boy does he love bouncing away in there! hello strong legs mcgee.
- the laugh & learn puppy
- momma!
- his new favorite game is pinching his eyes shut as tight as he can while letting out a loud breath through his noise and cheesing from ear to ear. HI-LARIOUS.
- when daddy rubs the bottom of his feet along his beard. tickle city!
- lambeau & lucy. he started noticing them and watching them last month, but this month he is in full mode with them. lambeau especially. puppy brother love.
- making noises and screeching/hearing himself
- sitting up by himself. FORGET laying down. seriously.
- touching peoples faces

you'd think he's crying but NO. a perfect shot in the middle of his new cheesin' game, LOL!

CLOTHES ARE SO WEIRD. he is in 0-3 baby gap jeans, but has outgrown his 0-3 gap one pieces and the 3-6 old navy one pieces. his shirts and onesies are 0-3 with some 3-6. i just tried on a denim button up last week in 3-6 and it is still SO BIG. my baby is long, but he's not very tiny?
- his 0-3 month fleece snow suit finally fits perfectly!
- diapers are in a size 2 still but our new box of size 3's just came so we'll be making the switch this month as soon as we use our 2's up! im hoping we will be in 3's for a longer time span than 1's or 2's because timing out the honest shipments are kind of tricky.

milestones/whats happening:
- we finished up the holiday season (thank god} and had ourselves a nice NYE at home just the 3 of us. it was the perfect rejuvenating night and exactly what we all needed.
- started sitting up all on his own christmas day! it came out of the blue and just like that, he had it.
- baby boy is vocal and loves every minute of it. he's found a handful of new noises to make!
- used the big boy high chair at the restaurant for the first time (i cried)
- we just bought a convertible car seat! i can NOT believe it. we're driving to chicago this month so i hope he's happy and the trip goes well! same with staying in a hotel for a week.  kind of nervous!
- pulling himself up in the crib and PnP like its his job. i really wasn't ready for that to be happening already! thankfully, his crib lowers one more setting!
- scooting like a champ! sometimes backwards, but just in the last 72 hours he's really made progress and distance across our living room floor to reach a toy. i think he will be on the move before i know it! (which seems to be a common theme!)
- C went to the movies! because my husband is a CRAZY PANTS. (judge away, i still think were insane myself). isaiah has been missing the movies and trying to convince me that we can get a babysitter or just take C with us from the moment we left the hospital. and i finally gave in. we went at 10am to see frozen and the entire experience was perfect. C usually sleeps until noon, so we woke him at 930am just in time to change his diaper & head out the door. i fed him in the theater when we got settled & he fell asleep until there was about 20 minutes left of the movie. they had just re-done the theater and we were surprised with full blown recliners. how comfy can that be?! winning!

i said "KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!" haha

- struggling with post partum weight
- struggling with working out & finding some serious motivation that lasts
- chopped 7 inches off my hair (perhaps the biggest regret of 2013, but it needed it BADLY!)
- pumping every 3 hours during the day and becoming so.exhausted. - half way done! forget a push present. i want a pumping present. A BIG ONE.
- struggling with leaving C and being a stage 5 clinger
overall, when i'm not looking in the mirror, i'm a happy mama!

his hair seems to be getting lighter! i was a natural blonde until about 19 so we shall see how his goes?!

some days it is hard to see how fast time goes. there are days i wish i could go back to being in the hospital room, just the 3 of us and soak in those moments all over again. i've definitely shed tears about it all. BUT. i am so excited for what is to come. watching this baby boy grow has been the greatest blessing! i know we've got a lot of good memories and laughs ahead :)

  1. OMG he just gets cuter and cuter! He reminds me a lot of H. He does the same cheesing game and loves to hear himself yell. He's also super duper mister personality when in public. Which, I appreciate. LOL
I hear you with the weight loss. I started WW for the second time since H has been born. I'm struggling with how to fit in a work out since I work and only get to see him a few hours a day.
You're doing a great job momma!!!

  2. I can barely take the cuteness in this post! His smile is seriously a heartstopper! I can't believe how much he is changing. You can see his little personality starting to shine right through. Way to go mama!

  3. OMG he is SUCH a cutie pie, Sarah. Abbie loves pickles too, but she HATED cereal. We ended up going straight to fruit.

I'm with you on the weight loss - it's so hard when you're so busy!!!

  4. He is too freaking cute! Love those pictures!

Pumping present....yes please! It definitely sucks! I'm such a clinger too. I can't do anything bc I just want to hold him! I'm stuck at about 10lb prepreg, and wanted to lose about 40lb after that. I'm trying to work at it, but it's so hard to find time and motivation to work out. Especially since it's cold!

  5. I just love him! His smile is so infectious and you do a great job of taking real pics of him, not just iPhone.... I am going to try to get my camera out more this month! What a teenager you have on your hands! Ford starts getting SO tired t 7pm! And today he slept til 8am and thought that was so late and crazy.... 11am though!!! Go Crue!

The RnP transition sucked....why don't they make those for big kids.. and adults haha

  6. FIVE MONTHS?! Already? Too big! If I remember right (how could I have forgotten just 11 months ago?) but I loved this age. They're learning so much and their personalities really start to come out. SO FUN!

I love that you're so optimistic and it's so obvious that you LOVE him so much. You're an amazing momma. He's so lucky.

Have you tried using hylands teething tablets for his teeth or the old school frozen teethers? Those both seemed to give D some relief. They still do.

We never knew about the food. We just followed D's ques. I think our doctor gave us a chart/timeline but I'm not sure we actually followed it.

  7. I don't blog, just a reader .. But he is SO cute! He and my little one share a birthday! :) and also a love for the Packers ;)

  8. That cheesin' face, on my goodness! Talk about heart melting. He has grown up so much, I can't believe it!

  9. He is so stinkin' cute!!! I agree on the pumping present... pumping sucks!

  10. A pumping present? Yep, pretty much genius.
Just when I didn't think C could get any cuter he does. That smile. Those cheeks. Can I please come snuggle him?!

  11. I love all of his facial features he is such a cutie and looks so similar but so different from when he was 1 month old.

  12. That teeny tiny little Crue in month one! Oh, my heart! That boy is getting so big! We need to make a transition from RNP, too. Noelle is getting squirmy in there, but her naps only last 20-30 minutes, whether it's in the crib or RNP. Unless she's sleeping on me, then she'll sleep for up to 3-4 hours. We've been co-sleeping by accident when I've pulled her in bed to get her to go back to sleep when she squirms. We both sleep so we both win! Crue needs to share his sleep secrets with his friend Noelle!

  13. that smile is precious! (oh and I am totally digging those red/white striped pillows!) haha.

  14. your son is so sweet - i'm oohing and ahhing over here. you're also an awesome photographer :)
