the 'pumpkin' patch

we got the apple orchard checked off our list, so next up was to get ourselves a punkin!

we heard a lot of things about a pumpkin patch over in richfield, about 20 minutes from home so we decided to go check it out. only, we found out that it was just a bunch of punkins on the floor. i was slightly let down until i realized that basically every punkin was perfect and teeny! the small punkins always make me smile. they had some bounce houses, hay rides & bike rides too - so we made another fun afternoon out of it!

typical fall doings.

i don't know why i live here in the midwest, and can't find an amazing place to go to in the fall that has ALL THE NECESSITIES. im talking punkins, apples, hay rides & corn mazes - ALL IN ONE!
not that i mind making multiple trips for these fun activities, but it gets hard to plan for such events when its usually colder than alaska by now.
thankfully its been absolutely beautiful and we've actually been able to enjoy fall as what looks to be a full season vs a quick weekend or two!

one afternoon we went to the apple orchard with some friends of ours that had just moved here from AZ (met through the blogging community!) and their darling two boys. crue had an absolute BLAST following them around and observing everything they did! ashley texted me later in the day and said that her oldest, axel - kept asking her where crue was! awwwww. i melt.

we decided to give crue an apple and i was totally blown away when i saw that he had actually been able to break the skin and bite into it! i don't know if i should have been so surprised? though we were, incredibly. he chowed on the apples the entire time and ended up eating two whole ones before we left!

now we know a new thing that'll keep him occupied, ha!

see also? shout out to the hubby for spending an absurd $11/lb on apples just so we could pick our own. do you know how many apples we fit into our 1lb bag they gave us?! 6! and then the bag broke. COOL. so note to self. apples are so much cheaper at target and trader joes! the things we do for these memories!

shorts in september! its the little things people.

someday ill learn how to take better photos when its bright as balls (for a lack of a better word) out.

10 in 10

i am the worlds worst blogger.

and this post is just going to prove that, because its not even going to be a real post.

i entered a photo of crue to the Twin Cities Moms Blog, and the winner won a free photo session. turns out? we won!!! also turns out? the photos were only 10 minutes long, and held early in the morning of his first birthday party. that same birthday party i scheduled to start at noon since my kid sleeps until 11am and that hour in between would have been perfect to set up & get ready!

we woke crue up at 730am so we could make it to the photos in time, all the while i couldn't help but think we were totally wasting our time because how many pictures can one get in 10 minutes of a walking one year old? of my one year old at 8am?!

he just turned one, and i wanted all the pictures we could possibly get during this time. we were meeting with a new photographer and i loved that too! i can never find enough photographers here in the twin cities.

turns out that since crue has maybe been awake a total of 3 times at 8am, this went about as well as i had imagined. we didn't feed him before we left, trying to allow him as much sleep as possible - so of course all he wanted to do there was drink his bottle (which turns out, was the last bottle he had, so i absolutely love having some of those photos)! isaiah and i couldn't leave his side, and if we were more than 2 feet away, C began a serious melt down.

he was 50% cautious, 50% curious and 100% sleepy.

all photos by sara montour

every time i look at these photos i love them more. they totally caught the raw emotions of this little boy and i am so thankful for that. i hope we can shoot with sara again when he is more himself! ;)
