we are moving!

as i mentioned in my last post, we are selling our home and renting an apartment.

first, we thought about building.
then we thought about buying.

ideally, when we build - we want it to be our forever home. our dream home.
we don't want to be in minnesota forever, so scratch that off the list.

we don't want to buy a new home just to have a new home.
our home now is lovely. its a town home. we own it.
three levels. three bedrooms with the choice of a 4th in the basement. four bathrooms. a two car garage.
everything is good. except the area.

our main goal?
to move to florida someday.
hopefully, sooner than later.

how can we make that transition easier?
by renting now. skipping the process to sell later. no showings. no obligations. nothing to hold us back.

among everything we toured, we found an apartment that we kept going back too.
i am nervous to go from 3 floors to 1 floor.
but i am excited to be closer to my family.
i am already dreaming of more togetherness.
super glad i won't lose my hubby an extra 1-2 hours a day due to shoveling! aint nobody got time fo' dat.

the new apartment is actually only 200sq feet smaller than our house now! so i figure we are losing the basement that we never use. i can do with that.

the master is obviously on the right, i don't know why thats labeled wrong.
lakely's room on the far left, then crue's will be in the "study".

we are moving to an incredible community. things are very close and nearby. the apartments are beautiful and brand new with amenities out of this world. they even have a golf stimulator! of course, crue's life is made right there. there is a pool, a work out room with spin classes AND an entire glass wall that looks into a childs play room. maybe i will loose more weight!

the "snack room" which is outside of the fitness room. i giggle.

i am very emotional about leaving our first home where we became a family, but i think this will be a good move for us. we've been down to 1 car for about 7 months for now and being so close to the amenities including a splash pad, a park and a skating rink - will probably save my stay at home mom sanity. i keep telling myself that.

the only downside i think, is that rent will be double our mortgage. isn't that crazy?!

tonight is our last in our home. this home.

goodbye home.
cheers to new beginnings.

  1. Aw! It was really hard leaving our first home, too, but you'll adjust. And it sounds like everything you need will be at your fingertips now. How perfect! Good luck with the move!

  2. It is always hard to leave what we know and love, however, at some point you were going to have to do it since your ultimate goal was to be in Florida. Just enjoy the amenities being that close, since it can be challenging to be a stay at home mom when you have no way to get around and go do things with the kids.

  3. I feel for you! It is so hard to move into a new place. You will be surprised at how fast you make the transition. I don't know if you already have consider it but, hire movers, they make the move way smoother and it is less dramatic. I do understand the joy of not having to sell your home.
